Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
I am a registered social worker, and body-positive psychotherapist, specializing in eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive exercise, and body image concerns. My expertise also stretches to working with experiences of dissociation and personality disorders. After my own personal journey and relationship with food, body image, and exercise, I feel so privileged to be working in a space with individuals who are facing many struggles similar to these. I believe that in a culture focused on body image and beauty, it is completely natural that we internalize shame, guilt, and dysmorphia around our bodies. If this sounds like you, you are not alone. Eating, exercise, and body image issues are more common than ever. Food restricting & bingeing, and compulsive exercising, may have acted as coping strategies to handle deeper-rooted issues– they have acted as a means of control and comfort, when maybe you felt like you had none. In many cases, we try to change our bodies to carry the weight of trauma, social pressures, or a lost sense of control. The purpose of my practice is to foster sustainable emotional growth– this means a relationship with your body that encourages self-worth, value, and connection. My Approach: I embrace anti-oppressive, size-inclusive, client-centred, and trauma-informed frameworks, from a psychodynamic and integrative approach. I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Ryerson University, as well as a Bachelor in Social Work degree from Carleton University, and have been working in the field of mental health throughout. I am professionally trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as well as training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and structural dissociation parts work.

I’m a trans identified person who has struggled with depression, anxiety and self image, I know from experience that breaking the silence and finding the right person to talk to can be freeing. Therapy helped me to come to terms with my identity, manage my depression, and navigate transitioning, which allowed me to come out to my family. I realized that even though things are not exactly how I want them to be, I’m okay, I am resilient, I have support, and I have someone to talk to. I have been working with and advocating for the queer and trans community since 2012. My work has spanned three provinces and continues to expand and grow in Toronto. I have a particular interest in working with queer and trans-identified people as well as the parents or partners of queer and trans individuals.

I have always been fascinated by different personalities and how we interact. Healthy relationships, whether it be with self, friendships, romantic, work, family, or parenting, were a mystery that I wanted to unlock. Of course, I was therefore drawn to the Adlerian Perspective when I entered into the world of psychology. This perspective focuses on the uniqueness and internal motivations of the individual while understanding that we exist in a world of relationships from the moment we are born. For this reason, all of our behaviours and thought patterns were adaptive at one point in our life and allowed us to thrive in the ways we needed. Through the therapeutic process we work together to understand this, unfold where it might hinder you currently, but most importantly to bring to light where your strengths lie and how to find more meaning from your own life and your current relationships. I have built a strong practice for over 5 years in this setting, approaching therapy holistically and fitting the therapy process to the client(s) to match their needs and goals through trust and alliance. With couples I work with patterns of communication, expectations, love cycles, intimacy, communication, expectations, trust, alliance, attachment patterns, changes in the relationship, our ideas or romance, past relationship traumas, and infidelity. With families, I work to establish healthy communication patterns, harmonious homes, and positive parenting. I also focus on working with understanding challenging behaviours of children, developmental stages, motivating our children, using encouragement in the home, and parenting styles Message me today to book a 15 minute phone consultation or check out my website for further information megtherapy.com I look forward to working with you!

Social Worker, Psychotherapist
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in the fields of Addiction and Mental Health. I’m also a mom of two, living in Toronto, who enjoys unwinding with a good book and spending time outdoors exploring nature. My passion for social work and psychotherapy began with a deep desire to understand the complexities of human behavior and relationships. Early in my career, I witnessed how meaningful change could happen when people felt truly heard and supported. During my time at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), I gained an in-depth understanding of mental health and addictions, as well as how these challenges connect to family dynamics and broader life experiences. I worked in both the Addictions Program and the Women’s Inpatient Unit, where I provided individual and group therapy. In the Addictions Program, I helped clients set meaningful goals and develop the skills to achieve them. I also gained specialized experience supporting family members who are concerned about the substance use of a loved one. I helped families improve their own self-care, and set healthy boundaries, fostering resilience and healthier family dynamics. In the Women’s Inpatient Unit, I supported women facing complex mental health challenges, deepening my understanding of trauma, resilience, and recovery. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, goal-oriented approach to therapy, where I help client’s break unhealthy patterns and move towards lasting well-being. For the past four years, I’ve been running my own private practice, where I continue to help clients discover their strengths, improve their well-being, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including BIPOC individuals, teens, couples and families, addressing challenges such as anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, addiction and navigating life transitions. I am committed to fostering healing and transformation by meeting each client where they are and supporting them on their journey toward lasting change.

As a therapist, Tiffany values growth, resiliency and creativity and strives to support her clients with their inner growth, feeling grounded and reconnecting with themselves through the use of creative art-making. She believes everyone should be encouraged to have creative tools for self-reflection, self-regulating and self-expression. Her approach to understanding clients comes from an individual perspective informed by their social and cultural contexts. Tiffany works from a psychodynamic and reflexive point of view and incorporates a strength-based approach into her practice. Tiffany’s approach to therapy comes from combining two disciplines: art and psychology by using lines, colours, shapes, and symbolic imagery to create a helpful way to make sense of feelings that are difficult to talk about. People of all ages can benefit from art psychotherapy, and previous art-making experience is not required. Art therapy is a distinct discipline that combines the creative process and psychotherapy. Art making in a therapeutic setting is used as a way to understand who we are, express ourselves when words cannot, release stress and tension, and enhance life by creating something that did not exist before.

People come to therapy for many reasons, usually because they are not happy with something in their lives. My role as a therapist is to help facilitate a process that results ultimately in positive change. It is you, the client, who does the actual work, but I help to create an environment where that work is possible. I believe that people will naturally move towards wholeness given the right conditions and that they have the resources available to deal with the challenges life brings them. Part of what I do is listen deeply to what you are telling me. That can be healing in itself. From that listening I reflect back to you what I hear in perhaps new ways – you might recognize something in what I say that you didn’t fully realize before. Or you might clarify what I’ve fed back to you and that will deepen both our understandings of your experience. I also encourage you to stay with and experience your feelings as you touch on them in our sessions. Sometimes that will feel hard, but you will also experience relief as you allow your truth to emerge. As they say, “The truth will set you free.” It is not only insight and self-awareness that is liberating – the actual experience of being connected to your authentic self expands your capacity to relate to your life and those around you with increased fulfillment and satisfaction. The work we do together is about exploring and uncovering your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes. Through that process, you will learn more about who you are and what your needs, fears, desires, and strengths are. With that knowledge you will be better able to act in your life in a way that brings about positive change. I believe that the relationship we have as therapist and client is the most important ingredient in creating an environment where you feel safe enough to do the work. To that end, as well as bringing my empathy, caring, respect, and sensitivity, to our relationship, I work as a team with you, collaborating on how you want to proceed every step of the way. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a masters degree in counselling psychology and a bachelor degree in engineering. In addition to my private practice I’ve worked with clients in a rape crisis centre, an abortion clinic, a walk-in counselling clinic, a yoga community, and two post-secondary schools. With a background in yoga and meditation, I am interested in the intersection of eastern spirituality and western theories of psychological healing. Authors whose teachings reflect my working style include: Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron, Brene Brown, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Geneen Roth, Esther Perel, and Sue Johnson, to name a few. Some of the issues I’ve helped people work with include: relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, food issues, life transitions, addictions, self-esteem, sexual and physical abuse, grief and bereavement, illness, and spiritual growth. I see both individuals and couples. If you feel that any of what I’ve said resonates with you or intrigues you and you would like to explore further whether we would be a good fit, please contact me to set up a free half-hour consultation. My office is in the east end of Toronto near Pape and Danforth.

It can be overwhelming to know from a bio which counsellor is the 'right' fit. I offer free initial phone consultations to get acquainted and answer questions. I am a registered social worker, counsellor, and researcher. I have been working in mental health since 2006, specializing in grief and bereavement since 2008. I work with people on self-healing, adjusting to change, trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, setting boundaries, building inner resources, and reclaiming joy and creativity. My approach is collaborative, non-judgemental, and inclusive. I view issues within their particular contexts. I am deeply committed to a person's inner freedom and empowerment.
