A soul-focused psychoanalytic therapy
Advanced candidate in Jungian training. Pre-licensed professional.
At times we need someone to talk to about what we know and don’t know, what we have said and what remains unsaid, what we have lived and have yet to live.
I am an advanced candidate in Jungian training with the Ontario Association of Jungian Analysts. Working with conscious and unconscious material, I offer an explorative, orientational approach. I meet you where you are. Together, we try to discern something akin to your inner compass.

Social Worker & Therapist
"We operate at a fraction of our capacity. No one should have to wait for a crisis to find out how much more they really have." - Della
As an Emotion-focused Therapist, I work with individuals collaboratively to get to the root cause of the difficulties they experience. We need to arrive at a place before we can leave it. We have to feel a feeling in order to change it. It is important that we work together to recognize the function that both positive and negative emotions have played in our lives to make lasting changes.
I strongly believe in using a multi-modal approach to therapy by assessing what your individual needs are, and utilizing different therapy approaches that are best suited to helping you reach your personal goals. I am trained in Emotion-focused therapy used for mood disorders and dealing with trauma, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy used for personality disorders and emotion dysregulation issues, as well as the Gottman Method for marital conflict and couples therapy.
I am devoted to helping individuals to explore issues around finding a sense of purpose in their own lives, particularly after a significant life change, or even if you are having difficulty making a decision around a significant life change. Often, depression and anxiety manifests as a symptom in our lives when it is unclear what meaning we attach to the things we are doing on a daily basis. I look forward to helping you explore these factors through active exploration of the things that are priority and important in your life to work past your current challenges.
I believe finding a personal sense of mental health is pivotal to the human experience. I work with individuals to find a sense serenity in everyday life. I believe that change first comes from the individual's readiness, to first be aware of chaos or rigidity that we have built into our lives, then exploring our past history of where this "stuckness" comes from. The emotions we have attached to these experiences can then provide the answers we need to unlearn behaviours and become unstuck.

Cognitive & Interpersonal Therapy Centre A
Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapist, Couples & Family Therapist
I am an Occupational Therapist and Psychotherapist, registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, a certified trainer and supervisor with the International Society for Interpersonal Psychotherapy and an Associate Member (#20171123) of the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Clinically, I have worked at CAMH, UHN, Mount Sinai Hospital, and in Chicago at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. My clinical experience spans a range of settings, including inpatient, emergency and crisis psychiatry, as well as outpatient mental health programs. I co-founded the first Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) clinic in Canada at CAMH (at the former Clarke Institute of Psychiatry). I have taught IPT locally, nationally and internationally. In 2021, I had the privilege of co-teaching IPT and introducing couple and family therapy in Ethiopia as part of the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration. My university teaching experience includes a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Rush University in Chicago and an instructor at Ryerson University, Chang School. My therapeutic approach is informed and developed through self-reflection, experience, and education. In my psychotherapy practice, I employ a systems approach that explores how individuals are both shaped by and shape their environment. In couple therapy, a systems approach enables partners to discover how members are impacting each other in positive and negative ways as well as how they are impacted by their environment. I engage clients in a collaborative approach in psychotherapy. My education in rehabilitation has been an asset in working with individuals, couples and families who are confronting life transitions due to illness or disability, including dementia. After graduating with an occupational therapy bachelor’s degree, I worked full time and obtained psychotherapy training in group therapy, IPT, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. My graduate education includes an MEd (Master of Education in Counselling) at OISE, followed by an MSc and PhD at the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto, researching memory. Most recently, I completed the Advanced Certificate in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Guelph. As you can tell, I am a life-long learner.

In a world full of competing ideas, opinions and expectations, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Our inner critics can be so loud, and even the voices of those we love can add to the noise. This can make it hard to figure out what’s truly right for us, which can leave us feeling stuck and uncertain.
Sometimes, it can be helpful to slow down and pause– to have a space to reflect, explore and make sense of what is happening, and to know that you are not walking through it all alone. I aim to create a warm, compassionate, and client-centered therapeutic space, recognizing that your experiences are unique and nuanced.
Your experiences are unique and nuanced, so my hope is that when you are in the therapy room, you feel safe, seen, and heard. Together, we can work toward helping you gain the clarity and the confidence to live in a way that aligns with what you value most. I would love to connect with you and help you discover what flourishing amidst life’s challenges can look like for you.

If you like your mental health services presented with a dash of nihilism by a nostalgic millennial who has experienced both ends of the depression and anxiety spectrum, I think we should talk.
Throughout my life, I've found many outlets for self exploration. From psychology to music to yoga, I've approached the exploration of the human experience from many sides. The work I continue to do is based on becoming more aware of unconscious thoughts and beliefs, and then challenging which of those are real and/or working in this current moment.
I believe that we are all the experts on our own lives. I will give you the space to teach me something as we work together. If you're interested in joining me as a fellow seeker, curious to delve deeper into our shared human experience, please reach out for a free initial consult.

Kat Kova Therapy
Specialized Sex and Relationship Therapists
At Kat Kova Therapy, we offer in-person and remote sessions and offer our specialized help in sex and relationship therapy to help people create healthier and more satisfying relationships and intimate lives.
If you landed here, know that you are not alone-research shows that individuals and couples/relationship partners struggle to maintain relationship and sexual satisfaction over time. About 60% of all therapy-seeking couples report sexual dissatisfaction along with relationship dissatisfaction and 48.5% of couples seeking therapy report sexual issues as their primary reason for seeking relationship therapy.
Of all couple and martial therapy programs in North America, only 8% require a stand-alone course in sexuality, and only 22% of psychotherapists ask their clients about sexuality (i.e., most report discomfort with or inadequacy in discussing sexual issues). But not to worry-we have the built-in solution to this problem at our practice!
We are the 2024 Canadian Choice winner of marriage counsellors because we go above and beyond to make sure our therapists have a deep understanding and effectiveness in treating a wide range of sex and relationship concerns (e.g., communication, erectile dysfunction, sexual desire, orgasm difficulties, etc.) by offering continuing education to our therapists (e.g., intensive sex therapy training, sex and relationship-related workshops, supervision and resources).
We also offer clinical internships to students completing their psychotherapy programs on-site with generous supervision in sex and relationship therapy. This allows us to offer therapy with our interns at a low-cost to those in need (because no couple should fight about both sex, and money).
We are looking forward to personally matching you with one of our therapists today (most clients are able to secure an appointment within 24 hours of booking)!
