Ready for Success
Social Worker
Has your child been experiencing difficulty recently? Do they need additional coping strategies to help them succeed? I have been a successful mental health practitioner for 10+ years, working with children and youth. I work from a trauma-informed lens using a strength-based perspective. I will support your child by providing them with the coping strategies and resources required to help them better manage their feelings.
I specialize in supporting children and youth with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), self-regulation, self-esteem, anxiety, anger management, and so much more. I am also certified in Mental Health First Aid. I have also worked with parents to equip them with the tools needed to support their children.

2020 Psychotherapy
Therapist, Supervior, Certified Trauma Professional
Psychotherapy is a lot like moving a piano up a flight of stairs. It's hard work, and I've never seen it done solo.
Whether I'm working with clients with complex trauma and concurrent substance use issues through the week, or supervising younger therapists on weekends, in my experience progress always happens in the context of a safe-but-stimulating relationship between real people who learn to laugh, cry, work, and wonder together.
I'm a former ordained minister now working with challenging clients who test me, try me, and teach me just how resilient human beings can be. I'm also a mentor to students and volunteers building their hours toward their own CRPO registration. And I'm just as proud to be the father of three amazing grown children who all work in human services.
I do know CBT and DBT, but I love the wilder country of psychodynamic therapies, including IFS, EFT, and Memory Reconsolidation (for PTSD). Let me know if I can help you, by easing your troubles or helping you reach your goals.

Social Worker & EMDR Therapist
I am a clinically trained social worker that incorporates to her approach numerous therapy modalities including cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (I consider myself DBT-informed), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Additionally, I incorporate tools, skills and experiential approaches from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as internal family systems part's work.My practice is beginning to lean especially into EMDR -- Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. It is a form of therapy that focuses on reprocessing distressing, often traumatic memories to alleviate many symptoms, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. "Parts work" or internal family systems (IFS) therapy interventions are also very frequently woven into the work that I do in sessions.
My main area of focus is supporting folks who have experienced interpersonal forms of trauma, that is harm caused in social relationships. This includes attachment and developmental trauma (i.e. in childhood, upbringing by primary caregivers, prominent adults in one's life), bullying, relationship breakdowns, intimate partner violence, as well as sexual abuse/sexual trauma. In addition to interpersonal trauma, I support folks with grief and loss, pet loss, and other life-altering experiences and transitions. For me, what is considered "traumatic" depends on the individual and their experiences: no one person responds to the same situation identically, and each person's reaction deserves acknowledgement.
Trauma recovery is a complicated and personal journey and my role is to help folks with safety and stabilization; enhancing emotion regulation strategies in day-to-day; understanding and making meaning of lived experiences; and finally reprocessing traumatic and difficult life experiences in order to promote healing and recovery.
My approach is client-centered, anti-oppressive & strengths-focused. What this means is that I work collaboratively with you, on your specific goals, in a way that is meaningful for you, and come from a place of compassion, nonjudgement and respect for your personal lived-experiences & the wisdom that comes from these things.

In my experience, people who are considering therapy have something ‘right’ with them rather than something ‘wrong’ with them.
Therapy appeals to people who want to grow – past troublesome symptoms and towards self-understanding, self-esteem and self-expression; and therapy appeals to people who want to grow in their relationships.
One way therapy is a new process for many of us is that we are accompanied on our journey of self-reflection. We are not alone; the therapist is there to help – with respect, with experience, and with caring.
My associates and I provide virtual psychotherapy and psychological assessment for adults and couples across Ontario. I look forward to learning about the challenges you're facing, your life journey, and your gifts and hopes for the future.
If you would like to book an initial consultation, please do so via my website (www.drjennhunter.com). The first consultation is free, and is intended to give you a chance to meet with me, discuss what you’re looking for in therapy, and ask any questions you may have. I would be pleased to hear from you.

Silm Centre for Mental Health
Psychologist. Public Speaker. Researcher. Consultant.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I have been trained and have the experience of working with clients who experience significant distress and/or mental illness.
I can complete psychological assessments, including for the purposes of accommodations at school/work, to access other services, or to help people better understand their difficulties. I also provide psychotherapy, and work to help clients rebuild a fulfilling and meaningful life where they can experience joy, peace and satisfaction.
I practice from a cognitive-behavioural and person-centred approach. I believe that each person knows themselves best, and I see my role as showing clients skills and helping them make sense of their difficulties. I understand that a client is more than just their challenges. I work to understand all parts of a client's identity and to support their healing.
I invite individuals to reach out to me if they are experiencing difficulties with their emotions (including feeling too much or not enough), relationships (including giving too much to others or not being able to maintain relationships), behaviour (including finding it hard to complete daily tasks or taking on too much), or anything else.

Life is hard! There are so many things to balance, be it our work, our relationships, or our personal wellbeing. Meanwhile, we are often also trying to manage our pasts and our futures too! Anxiety, depression, or stress can be pervasive throughout. So let’s team up and give you a space to be real and authentic about everything that’s going on. This is the place to explore, to play, to grieve, to be frustrated, and to think and feel.
I provide both in-person and online counselling and psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout, and life transitions, while using an approach that focuses on connection and new insights. Together, we will work to create a personalized treatment that addresses the needs you have, whether you want to learn, cope, grow, or release a burden.
My goal is not just to help you 'feel' that change has happened but that you objectively 'see' changes in your life. For some, this may be a reduction in symptoms and intense emotions. For others, this may be a new perspective on life or a deeper connection with self and with others. So let's chat and see where this next stage of your journey is taking you!
