Negar Amirfarhad
Registered Psychotherapist, Supervisor
I have been working with individuals and couples in academic, hospital and private settings since 2003. I completed my Master's and Doctorate degrees in counseling and psychotherapy from the University of Toronto. I continue to be committed to professional learning and development to ensure being a competent and inclusive therapist. I practice relational-cultural therapy focusing on how individuals relate to themselves and to others.
I help clients understand their underlying issues and how they show up in their relationships. I help clients work with those parts of themselves that are stuck in the past traumas while learning new relational and coping skills. I work with clients who need to address core issues such as grief, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, boundaries, affairs, trauma and race.
I believe that a therapeutic relationship needs to be empathetic, collaborative, safe, non-judgmental and mutually respectful.

I would like to first acknowledge that it takes a lot of courage to seek help from someone whom you do not yet know. Thank you for your courage and willingness to do so.
Sometimes life seems difficult, and we may feel like nothing is working. We may feel lonely, isolated, filled with self-doubt, depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, hopeless, and helpless. We long for connections, while afraid of being hurt. We hope that someone can listen to us and validate our emotions, suffering, and struggles; we hope to be seen, heard, and cared for. However, it can be scary to reach out for support, showing our vulnerabilities and not knowing how others will respond to them.
My wish is to create a hospitable space, where there is no judgment. It is a safe space for you to share your experiences, struggles, and emotions. I am here to be with you and listen to you. Now, shall we begin?
I am a registered psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and an associate member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). I hold a Master of Pastoral Studies (Buddhist stream) from Emmanuel College, the University of Toronto with a Certificate in Spiritual Care & Psychotherapy.
My goal in working with you is to help you develop further self-awareness, so that you may know your self and needs, and to feel comfortable with your identity, and its different parts. I want to create a safe space for you to explore yourself, personal struggles, emotions, thoughts, and behaviours; with curiosity and compassion, we listen to what your body, mind, and spirit are trying to tell us; we work on how we can together redevelop a harmony inside you.
I provide spiritually integrated psychotherapy while applying techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. I believe we are experts in our own lives, and we just need someone we can connect with and trust – to accompany us, in our journey of being aware of our inner power, reconnecting to it, and knowing how to communicate with it. I hope that together we can cultivate compassion, courage, curiosity, and wisdom from within.
I invite clients to connect their body, emotions, mind, and spirit through embodiment exercises, creative art activities, and experience sharing. I hope to be with clients so that they acknowledge, see, hear, and understand their parts. Ultimately, communicating with their parts in a healthy way that creates a harmonious system. In this harmony, all parts can enjoy their roles, while maintaining the system’s functioning. So, we can live well, eat well, and sleep well.
My availability for virtual sessions is Monday to Friday 10:00 - 20:00, and Saturday 09:00 - 12:00. My in-person session availability is Monday 10:00 - 19:00. Please contact me for booking an appointment.

I am a settler, living in what is colonially known as Toronto. My background is rooted in my lived experiences as a queer, neurodivergent, second generation Indian immigrant. Reflecting on the complexities of my own intersections gives me a deep appreciation for nuance, and has instilled in me an ongoing commitment to practice with reflexivity and humility.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that values warmth, authenticity, and collaboration where you feel safe to explore and connect with yourself.
I work from an intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed framework that emphasizes you as the expert of your own experiences.
I use an integrative approach that draws on modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), parts work, expressive arts therapy, somatic mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I see therapy as one component, in a boundless combination of components, that make up the pathway(s) to our growth and healing. I look forward to being a part of your journey.

Ambrose strives to meet clients where they are at and providing services in their needs. He ensures that he does all that he can to provide an environment to help clients feel safe and comfortable to build a relationship of trust and non-judgment that allows them to speak freely about themselves and their concerns.

I believe every single one of us has a profound contribution to share with the world. Trauma and life’s stressors can put pressure on us mentally, emotionally and physically. As a result, we often feel disconnected from our true powerful selves and experience loneliness and pain. My greatest passion is to help people find their individual expression, inner strength, and abundant joy. This journey of self-discovery awakens a spirit of ‘I Matter’ and strengthens their relationships to their families and communities allowing them to live a life that is more complete, full of joy and on purpose.
I use a variety of modalities to assist in this deep dive, ranging from Mindfulness to Intuitive Somatic Inquiry and Creative Visualization. My 7 years of experience in Counseling and Coaching has given me the pleasure of working with individuals and families from across the globe, ranging from Dubai; the Middle East to Auckland; New Zealand, Accra; Ghana and London; UK.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario and Spiritual Director, where I studied at the Transformational Arts College. My teachers have often referred to me as ‘a space of light amidst the chaos’. I look forward to holding that light for you as you discover how beautiful you truly are.

When we feel badly about ourselves it affects every part of our lives. It can cause debilitating self-doubt that makes us question our thoughts, feelings and decisions. We experience self-criticism where we focus on our mistakes, unfairly blame ourselves for the problems we have and dismiss our strengths. This makes it difficult to try new things, pursue goals and can make us perfectionistic, which only leaves us feeling more depressed, anxious and frustrated. When we think that our needs are wrong or don't matter, we can end up in relationships that feel unsupportive and don’t work for us.
I specialize in women's mental health and provide therapy to women experiencing concerns about self-worth and relationships. In therapy, you can learn to understand and respond to yourself in an accepting and compassionate way that leads to healthy self-worth. This also helps in building caring relationships where you can be authentic, feel heard and valued.
I work with clients in a way that is supportive, authentic and collaborative. I find one of the ways to make therapy more comfortable is to know that it’s okay to laugh and find humour in it. Finding a therapist who is a good fit for you is incredibly important, so I offer a free, 20-minute consultation and welcome emails with any questions you have!

Restore Balance Psychological and Counselling Services
Psychologist
At Restore Balance, I am presently dedicated to assessment and supervision services, in addition to maintaining a small caseload. I am particularly passionate about “helping those who help others” including healthcare providers, first responders, and individuals in leadership positions. I assess and treat a number of conditions that interfere with work/life balance issues. My assessment portfolio includes: personal injury, motor-vehicle accidents (MVA), workplace injuries (WSIB), return-to-work, substance-use, and psycho-educational (giftedness, learning disabilities, ADHD, etc.) to remediate any difficulties through a practical application of supports, allowing individuals to reach their full potential in all aspects of life.
My past experience includes providing clinical consultation/supervision and independent assessment services (fitness for work and MVA) to other organizations. I also was an adjunct professor at Trent University in the Faculty of Social Work and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. I hold active registrations in good standing with the Ontario College of Psychologists and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
My colleagues and clients describe me as a direct and pragmatic clinician with a “no guff attitude”. My approach is straight to the point, “no beating around the bush” or “sugar-coating” the situation. My motto is – “person first, therapist second” because I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help. I believe in active collaboration in the assessment/treatment process and actively seek feedback from my clients.

As a successful professional, do you feel that no matter how much you accomplish, you’re just not good enough? You’re used to finding solutions but feel at a loss with this constant inner judgment. You may be coping by overworking to avoid these uncomfortable emotions or indulging in ‘retail therapy,' sweets and junk food, a couple of extra drinks, or recreational drugs. You find that these methods for coping work temporarily but then leave you feeling further guilty and alone. There’s a part of you that knows you are capable, but cannot bring yourself to believe that you are ‘enough.’
With support and compassionate reflection, you can begin to restore your confidence and inner peace. We listen to the wisdom of your emotions and allow it to help break the unhealthy patterns in your life. I bring my own experiences as a young professional and strive to provide you with a non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Together, we can create healthy structures in your life that support you through stressful times. I offer virtual sessions in the evening hours. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling understood and hopeful for your future. Email me to set up your free 15-minute consultation and let’s get started on seeing your life reflected in a kinder mirror.
