Hi there. My name is Nicole. Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I think it’s safe to say you’ve come looking for some answers to questions you have, perhaps ones you’ve had for a long time. You know what else I think? I think you have a lot of those important answers to puzzling questions inside you. I can help you with that, if you’ll let me.
I don’t know yet what is troubling you, but I’m confident we can work together on whatever it is. Over my 10+ year career as a social worker I have had many diverse experiences working with people with a wide range of challenges such as trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, eating disorders, aging, addictions, children’s mental health, mood disorders, and borderline personality disorder, to name a few.
Most importantly, I think you will enjoy working with me on your unique concerns because of the supportive relationship we can build together. Many past clients have remarked that they finally felt like someone “got them” and they understood “why I am the way I am” at long last. Past clients have also appreciated my patient, non-judgmental and intuitive nature, which has allowed them to feel safe enough to process painful traumas and experience real and lasting change.
I am comfortable working with individuals, couples and families and am currently working toward an Advance Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy through the University of Guelph.
I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS to start in April, 2022. Please reach out, let's do this together!

Therapy can be a really hard thing to access. Not because the resources aren't there but because sometimes we fight with our minds about whether or not we truly "need" it. Many of my clients told me they resisted going to therapy for a long time before they reached out but all of them reported the benefits of someone "bearing witness" to their suffering. In many ways the brain processes the traumatic event(s) as we tell the story and that is when we can begin to navigate ways of coping and building resilience through using learning about our own mind and implementing strategies.
I'm Kelli Nicholson, I was a child protection worker for 5 years and a police officer with the Niagara Regional Police for 10 years. Needless to say I've been around the block and understand the intense suffering that can arise from occupational stress, personal and social stress. The evidence based modalities I use include CBT, DBT, EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Solution Focused and Re-integration Therapy. To learn more about these therapies visit my website at www.mylifeline.ca. I practice from a strengths based approach and believe strongly in understanding ourselves in an individual way, which means finding what works for you as a person.
If you're suffering please reach out. The only way to get relief is to take the first step. Kind Regards, Kelli

Life can be overwhelming, leaving you feeling helpless and alone. It is not easy to find your way forward. Recreating yourself in a way that embraces who you are and where you've been, to empower you to move towards a life you may envision, is not simple but it can be done. My goal is to help you find this path. Whether faced with a lifetime of challenges, or impacted by a single traumatic event, I bring empathy, compassion and understanding to the relationship. From that place of safety, I will support you to find the road to acceptance, healing, and peace of mind.
With over 30 years of experience and training as an educator, researcher, and therapist, I bring a wide variety of knowledge and experience to my clients. I am a Registered Psychotherapist, trained in Relational Psychotherapy, with additional training in Grief Therapy, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy. I am a lifelong learner and actively engage expanding my skills and approaches to working with clients in need.
My training, in combination with lived experience of trauma and loss, has led me to a focus on the issues of grief and bereavement, trauma, depression, and anxiety.
My approach is relational, strengths-based, and capacity-building. In taking this approach, I help people to move towards creating a meaningful life. I purposefully create a space where clients feel safe, valued, and heard, knowing that feeling alone with the struggles of life can be overwhelming. I am willing to walk alongside my clients as they find their way forward.
Additionally, my background in Therapeutic Recreation, a profession that focuses on the role of free time engagements in creating a meaningful life, is one of the foundations of my practice. I believe that finding experiences in life that create positive emotion and express or develop personal strengths support feeling better, moving forward, and living well. It is hard to feel bad when you are doing something that uses or develops your natural gifts and talents. Finding those experiences with clients is important to learning to live a happier life.

I help distressed couples with ineffective communication styles combined with sexual desire discrepancy achieve renewed intimacy by talking openly about sex at their comfort level and provide tools and exercises to help develop new and more effective communication patterns and sexual intimacy. I support couples/singles who identify with alternative relationships and sexual lifestyles, including roleplaying, BDSM, D/S, kink, ethical non-monogamy (ENM), open relationships, swinging, polyamory, pansexuality, and asexuality.
I also help distressed couples and individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ (including intersex and asexual individuals) with ineffective communication styles to achieve renewed intimacy and connection.
I help stigmatized sex workers who may desire therapy but have not felt comfortable speaking to a therapist about their work or anything else about their lives for fear of judgment, be open about their experiences, and feel they can develop a positive therapeutic relationship.

I believe we all have moments when we need someone to talk to and someone to understand. I take great pride and joy in helping those who are struggling emotionally, relationally and mentally with life’s challenges. As a senior therapist, I can relate to life’s struggles which cause emotional pain and a desire for change.
I am a registered psychotherapist in Ontario who has earned a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Over the last 22 years, I have enjoyed working cross-culturally in the United States and Canada. Through my work and life experience, I have developed a sensitivity to a variety of ethnicities, ages, genders and stages of life.
I feel honoured to have crafted a “clinical tool box” for helping people make changes that improve their emotional, mental and relational quality of their lives. My hope is that I can help you too.
