Tara McRae Therapy A
Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
Tara McRae (she/her) is a MSW RSW Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist. She works with young adults experiencing the weight of anxiety in a pursuit driven world, couples looking to rebuild connection and the neurodiverse who have struggled to find the right therapeutic service.
Young adults come to Tara because they feel so anxious that it keeps them up at night. Not knowing where they are going is enough to keep them from leaving the house. They push through, but they are often filled with a sense of dread. They have a pit in their stomach and tightness in their chest. They worry that they are not doing enough or that they are failing at work or school. They feel overwhelmed and even panicked. They worry about the mistakes they will make. They avoid spending time with friends because they worry about saying or doing the wrong thing.
Couples see Tara because they are feeling tired of having the same conflicts again and again. They feel lost and as though they are at an impasse. They feel the trust is broken and totally disconnected. They don’t know how to fix things.
Neurodiverse adults come to see Tara because they are frustrated that they have not been able to find a therapeutic service that will adapt to their needs. Their disability may be being noted but their other mental health needs and life concerns are being overlooked.

I help young adults struggling with direction, confidence, and purpose, to recover their zest for life and feel deserving of happiness.
Are you finding that getting through the day and managing responsibilities, people, work, and emotions is just too much? Maybe you’re in a job that you dislike and are feeling stuck. Or maybe you’re near or out of school and feeling disillusioned with all the options and lack of options coming at you all at once. Perhaps you’re coming out of a relationship or just getting into one and feeling nervous. Maybe it’s your existing relationship that you’re feeling hopeless about, or having difficulty setting and maintaining boundaries. It could be that it all seems to be happening at the same time. I understand the burden of these situations and the heaviness they bring with them.
I believe we all have an innate ability and desire to realize our potential; that we have everything we need to be fulfilled, happy, and healthy inside each one of us. I want to remind you of your strengths and competencies, and invite new perspectives to help you connect with your innermost self, treat yourself and others with compassion, and approach life’s challenges with grace.
Humans are fascinating, different, and complex, and for that, I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. I am passionate about letting my clients be the experts on themselves. My job is to guide you where you can use your expertise of self in a way that brings you the direction, clarity, and peace you’ve been looking for. I’ll provide a comfortable space for you to talk about what’s on your mind and what you’ve been feeling. I can teach you techniques to connect to your body and relax your nervous system so you can feel relief from the heaviness of stress and emotional burdens, connect more presently with life, and experience life with more enthusiasm. I’ll invite you to think of your situations differently, explore your values and areas of life that bring you joy, build on your resilience in times of strife, and help you live with more passion and compassion for yourself and others. My practice uses an eclectic approach to ensure you’re receiving personalized care to best suit the needs and nuances of your specific situation.
