Dr. Jean-Luc Williams D.Psy, L.Psych, CGT, PGS, IGDC VIDEO THERAPY
JLW Psychology
Licensed Psychologist
I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Université de Moncton in 2018. My doctoral thesis focused on the influence a parasocial relationship can have on an individual's willingness to act in a prosocial manner. I have been a Licensed Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB) since 2021, and I am also a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
Over the years, I have acquired clinical experience in various settings such as community mental health, hospitals, corrections, and private practice, where I still practice. I started my own private practice, JLW Psychology, in 2023.
My theoretical approach is mainly cognitive-behavioural based; however, I use various intervention styles such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Geek Therapy, and Superhero Therapy. Geek Therapy and Superhero therapy are treatment modalities that use pop culture interests such as books, movies, TV shows and video games into evidence-based therapy.
______________
