About
Hi, my name is Kim, owner of TreeHouse Therapy. TreeHouse Therapy is a safe space to work through life’s challenges. As a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate, I am licensed to provide counselling services throughout Nova Scotia. I provide face-to-face counselling with children, parent(s)/caregiver(s) and child, adults, and couples. Therapy via Zoom and phone is also an option for adults and couples.
As an educator for over 30 years, with the last 10 years as a counsellor, I have extensive experience working with children and families, and understand the challenges individuals face at different stages of life. I hold a Master of Education in Counselling from Acadia University, as well as a Master in Education for Diverse Learners and a Bachelor of Education both from Mount St. Vincent University.
I use a trauma-approach to therapy that is person-centred. . I use a variety of evidence-based practices such as Play Therapy, Theraplay, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to meet the needs of young people and their families. I am a provider for the Safe and Sound Protocol.
I provide a warm, caring and genuine approach to therapy. My focus is on ensuring you feel heard, respected and valued. To accommodate busy schedules, I also offer some Saturdays.
