About
The decision to begin therapy is one that takes courage. I want to commend you on taking this first step and searching for someone that can help.
Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, I am offering sessions over the telephone or Zoom.
About Michael
I am a registered Social Worker and have been working in Private Practice for 12 years. My practice is focused on individuals in the LGBTQ2S+ Community of all genders and cis-gender boys and men in all stages of life who are exploring their mental health and relationships. I work with clients that are dealing with:
mental health anxiety
depression coming out
sexual and gender identity ADHD
learning disabilities life skills
parenting issues life stages and changes
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship which is built on trust and understanding is the key to providing good work for my clients in helping them achieve success. My approach to counselling is one that integrates several different modalities and is flexible depending on the client’s need at that time. Using elements from cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, solution focused therapy, goal setting and systems therapy I work with the client to help them achieve what they are looking for from therapy.
In addition to my current work in private practice and counselling, I have extensive experience as a front line worker and manager in community agency settings in a number of different roles:
School Social Worker
Intake Worker
Crisis Intervention Worker
Family Life Educator
Trainer
Program Developer in establishment of LGBTQ2S+ programs which provides counselling, education, family support and training
My experience with youth extends beyond the clinical setting as I have spent many years working on the Leadership Team at Camp Walden Canada. I have since transferred that experience into training and workshops for camps on the topics of mental health, LGBTQ2S+ issues within a camp setting and supporting young staff in their efforts. I often spend part of my summer offering consultation and crisis support to camps within Ontario. My practice is recognized as a preferred vendor by The Ontario Camps Association. Over the years I have also provided training focused on youth and their families to public and private schools in the GTA, small businesses, religious institutions and community organizations.
I’m looking forward to talking with you and figuring out if I can be helpful to you. The next step is calling me or sending an email. Most people who take this first step report “feeling better,” I encourage you to call or connect when you can. I look forward to hearing from you.
MICHAEL
