About
Our bodies hold everything: our histories, our hopes, our capacity to heal. Somatic therapy is an invitation to experience a coming home to your body; to support the release of what no longer serves you; to find rest and connection in the space that befriending your body creates, even in an unjust world. My therapeutic approach is attuned, collaborative, trauma-sensitive, informed by neuroscience, and committed to social justice. I am deeply attentive to the impact of the dominant culture on those of us who aren’t part of it and honoured to work with people who hold an array of social identities. I’m committed to offering a supportive place where that reality is held with care and cultural humility. Working primarily from a body-centred modality (Somatic Experiencing) means we’ll be spending time getting to know your unique nervous system. I’ll invite you to notice and be with what arrives, and to find a pace that is not overwhelming. This gradual, titrated process, which often includes moving mindfully between activation and rest, allows your nervous system the time it needs to renegotiate what it was not able to complete in the past, and to deepen as well as build new neural pathways. By working with what shows up in your body in a supported and attentive way, you create possibility: for shifting constricted, habitual responses, as well as discovering a renewed sense of well-being, vitality and a more regulated nervous system. More choices, more room for ease and connection become available, along with a greater capacity to thrive in the world. Please feel free to get in touch; I’m happy to talk with you to see if we’d be a good fit for one another, and if what you are hoping to explore is within my scope of practice. As a Registered Social Worker I can provide a receipt that most supplemental health plans will accept for reimbursement. I also offer a sliding fee scale when I can; I'm committed to making sessions accessible by balancing what is sustainable for me and what is affordable for you. Approved provider with the following programs: Indian Residential School Resolution Health Support | Non-Insured Health Benefit Medavie-Blue Cross | CanadaLife SOMATIC EXPERIENCING STUDENTS: I am approved to offer Personal Sessions and Individual Case Consultations for credit at all levels and would be pleased to support your learning.
