About
I firmly believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their life. I believe that there are no limits to human capacity. I think one of the main reasons we develop mental health issues and addictions is that they are unhealthy learned behaviours that we have picked up along the way. This means that I think you can unlearn these faulty behaviours and replace them with healthy ones. I have suffered from severe anxiety, panic attacks, and depression, and through my own therapy, I have learned how to handle my thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and move past them so that they no longer have control over me; rather I am in control my thoughts, feelings, and actions. I want you to experience the freedom that I have every day.
I also believe that every person has the potential for change in their life. I have witnessed other people heal and grow in psychotherapy. Being a psychotherapist is truly a gift and I feel privileged to help everyone who steps into my office. I believe that psychotherapy needs be a safe space and provide the utmost confidentiality. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is naturally healing even though what we talk about is important, I know that the relationship itself does a lot of the work. I believe that being free from mental illness, substance use and other addictions is a human right. If you are sick and tired and you’re ready to find relief, then contact me so that we can work together to create a healthier life for you.
I provide face-to-face and online Psychotherapy for adults and seniors in Windsor-Essex county and across Canada. My areas of expertise include anxiety (including generalized anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, and phobias), depression (including sadness, major depression, intermittent depressive disorders, and dysthymia), trauma (domestic violence and victims of crime) as well as substance use & other addictions. In addition, I provide psychotherapy for Victims Quick Response for survivors of domestic violence, and Substance Use Evaluations. I provide psychotherapy for many different Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) as well as several insurance companies as well as fee-for-service.
I graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and Mercy College of Detroit with a Bachelor of Science degree in Addiction Studies. I also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Windsor. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in Ontario, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and a Canadian Certified Addictions Counsellor (CCAC) as well as a Limited Licensed Psychologist in Michigan, USA.
I’ve been working in the fields of addictions and mental health for over 28 years; having my private practice since 1995. My therapeutic approach is considered strengths-based and empirically-based: Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as aspects of Positive Psychology.
I look forward to helping you achieve your goals by finding solutions to your problems, not just talk about your problems. As my motto says, “for every problem, there’s an abundance of solutions.” It’s just a matter of figuring them out one step at a time.
"Together, finding solutions."
