About
Dr. Illsley has extensive experience working with both adults and children/adolescents and is currently a member of the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC; #1598) and the BC Psychological Association. She received her BA with Honors in Psychology from Concordia University and her Master’s and PhD from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She further completed a clinical Post-Doctorate in Pediatric Psychology at Montreal Children’s Hospital and subsequently worked there for two more years carrying out developmental and feeding assessments on young children. During this time, Dr. Illsley was also employed as a faculty lecturer at McGill. Since 1995, she has worked privately with children and families and consulted at hospitals, schools and development centers.
Presently, Dr. Illsley is in private practice and provides online therapy to adults and teens for early developmental issues, trauma, mood difficulties, chronic pain, stress and relationship issues, along with support to parents around child-related challenges. Her therapy skills are multimodal and include various behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, dialectial-behavioral, attachment-based, self-regulation, family, play and art therapy techniques.
Her research focuses on parent training and the treatment of children with behavior problems and she has published in professional journals and presented at national and international conferences. She is also regularly contacted by the media to offer her expertise around various psychological issues.
