About
Before becoming a registered psychologist I was a classroom teacher for ten years; as such, I deeply enjoy working with children, adolescents, and their families. A great deal of my work has been in increasing communication among family members. I enjoy working with parents of LGBTQ children and joining them on their journey of acceptance and adjustment. I also work with individuals struggling with setting personal boundaries and those suffering from depression, and anxiety. My approach is informed by a solutions focused perspective and incorporates interventions from modalities such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I am adept at conducting psychoeducational assessments, which allow for a deeper understanding of a child’s cognitive functioning, learning style, and behaviour. Through assessment, both families and schools gain a significant understanding of how to program effectively for a child’s success. In addition, I enjoy working alongside families with children who have special needs. I’ve run workshops for parents and educators on how to best work with children on the Autism spectrum or those struggling with anxiety, and have also worked with children in developing their own social awareness and increasing their interaction skills.
